Customized Chevrolet Opala coupe:

This page is dedicated to Cesar Degreas's Opala.

Vehicle: 1981 Chevrolet Opala 2 door coupe, 1,050 kg with driver.

Engine: Original block 6 Cil 4.1 (250 c.i.) bored out to 4.2 litres, 11:1 compression, original reworked head with 87,5 of flux, forged pistons (Wiseco), balanced racing internals, Total Seal Gold Power piston rings, Crower racing camshaft, Manley valves, PowerMaster starter motor. Power: 900 horsepower.

Induction: 2 Garret turbos (redimentioned) at 2 Bar, Fuel: Metanol, Holley 950 CFM Metanol carburettor, Bary Grant mechanical fuel pump, Aeroquip fuel lines, Cliford inlet manifold, Harwood fuel tank.

Exhaust: 6 into 2 dimensioned SPA 2 1/2 inch extractors.

Ignition: Distribuitor Malory Magnetic, 1st coil - Pro Power MSD 183 milijoules per spark-plug and more than 50,000 volts, 2nd coil - Pro Power Coupler Coil MSD with more than 500 milijoules per spark-plug and more than 50,000 volts, ignition module MSD 10, ignition cut module 3 Step MSD, timing sistem Crank Triger MSD, timing retard Boss Timing Master MSD, Adjustable Spark Timing Control MSD, spark plug cables MSD 8.5 mm, NGK spark plugs.

Gearbox: Powerglide 2 speed with Transbrake A-1 and high rpm stall torque converter A-1, gearbox radiador with Derale fan, pneumatic gear change system per rpm.

Differential: Dana 44 3.07:1, shortened original tailshaft.

Brakes: Front: Chevrolet D-20 ventilated discs with Dodge calipers rear: ???, pneumatic FESTO parachute system ( button on steering wheel ), 2 SIMPSOM parachutes.

Wheels and tyres: Front: Weld Alumminium super light wheels of 15" of diameter by 4" width, Eagle Goodyear 28" of hight by 15" of diameter by 4,5" of width. Rear: Weld Allumminium super light of 15" of diameter by 12" of width, Eagle Goodyear 30" of hight by 15" of diameter by 12,5" of width.

Suspension: Front: original witn Lakewood shock-absorbers. Rear: Ladder Bar with Lakewood shock-absorbers.

Other: Launch Control Mr.Gasket Stage-Loc 2 System, comunication system driver-pit crew via Racing Electronics 16 channels with Longacre 40 AMP buttons. Turbo Start 16V batteries. Roll bar with reinforcements.

Performance: Quarter-mile: 8.316 secs. @ 259.74 km/h. 0 to 100 km/h: about 4.5 secs. Top speed: 275+ km/h.
